Don't Make This Mistake You're Using Your Item Upgrades
Path of Exile Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a frequent and crucial method to enhance the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.
Sometimes, however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is outclassed by Rare-grade gear because of their requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a form of upgrade that can be used on weapons and armor items. They improve the stats of whatever item they are attached to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of games and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at bonfires. Alternately, they can be rescued from items with upgrade components within them by using an expert or greater salvage kit.
The amount of damage that an armored piece or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the level of its upgrades. The damage absorption of a piece armor will increase as it is upgraded to its maximum upgrade level. But, it's important to keep in mind that this will raise its weight, requiring it to be heavier than before.
There are a few different types of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have distinct effects. Certain upgrades grant armor an extra number of health points, while others make it more powerful and lighter. The name of the upgrade will indicate the kind of upgrade the item can be given, as illustrated below.
Some of the upgrades also require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, as identified by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Certain upgrades also require fees for use. These are indicated as "Charges" entries in the table. The charges for these upgrades refresh every day or never expire, according to the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest method to improve your armor. It can be found by exploring and looting small treasure chests. Titanium is more expensive, but it can be obtained through smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be used on high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant boost to stats and are a worthwhile investment, particularly for one-handed weapons.
The player must be aware, however, that upgrading a piece to the max upgrade level will increase its defense value. However, it will also decrease its agility and its speed. This is why it is typically not recommended to upgrade armor pieces beyond +9, since the added defense is generally not worth the extra weight and power cost of the upgrades required.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades give players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. For example an upgrade can enhance the damage caused by a shotgun's shells or the accuracy of a rifle that snipes. Certain firearms also have enhancements that enhance their intrinsic qualities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of weapon overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).
Most weapon upgrades require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade. These can be obtained by completing side quests or by killing a certain amount of bosses and monsters.
Upgrading a Weapon, Equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade cost of a set number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars are required to complete it. The cost of the upgrades will be lower if have more than one of the upgrade materials.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and sets has changed. Previously, you could seek out an Upgrade Bench and pay a set amount of Bars to upgrade your weapon or equipment to a higher quality. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level, at which point the upgrades would reset.
It's possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. Instead, you're much better off going to the stores and buying gear with low upgrade levels, but excellent base scores and stat distributions. These items will have a better likelihood of granting you highest tier benefits and blessings.
The majority of players will prioritize upgrades to the weapons they use most frequently to allow them to progress faster. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their squadmates utilize to increase their power. Shepard for instance should upgrade his M92F in order to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more effective when accompanied with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to increase the stats of a character or to provide additional effects in weapons and armor. Jewelry crafting is a method for making them, where you combine a gemstone with a number specific reagents on a table. The higher the grade of the jewel the better the secondary effect. These reagents are available from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses around the world, or by collecting Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The quality of a diamond can be improved upon by the Jeweler in stages that vary from Crude to Royal. The stat boosts can vary according to the tier that the jewel is in when it is inserted into jewelry, weapons, or gear.

All kinds of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a high enough level to obtain these. Jewels can be substituted with another jewel without damaging the original. However it is only possible to replace one jewel in an equipment piece only once.
It is normal to use more gems to enhance the appearance of. In addition to improving performance, the jewels also create a surface that is harder than metal, which means that repeated friction from pivots won't damage them as easily.
In addition to the above-mentioned upgrades, the player can also acquire glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These are a small perk and are able to be swapped easily but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold, and also scattered Crystal. Glyphs may also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits and aegis, aren't swappable and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them using Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are small pieces of equipment that offer a wide range of tiny but valuable benefits to your hero. They can be acquired starting in the areas of starting as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, and by doing road interactions. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
item upgrader unlocks will be the cloak, which gives a small, but valuable boost in speed of movement and the ability to escape. The player can then collect necklaces, amulets, and rings in a similar fashion similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has a slot for an upgrade that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades provide smaller bonuses and can be put into any type of equipment however, jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and is only compatible with certain kinds of trinkets.
These trinkets grant additional buffs and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't engaged in combat. This lets the hero be more effective when not active and may also help to compensate for the absence of a strong team or any slots from the talent tree that normally are filled with hero's ideal statistics.
A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you aren't planning to replace soon, followed by any items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item being upgraded. This is true especially if you want to upgrade multiple statistics on an item. It's better to upgrade one important stat than two less important ones.
In the beginning of the game, players who are in the jungle will typically want to upgrade their yellow trinket into a red one, while top and middle players will usually opt for either a pink or green ward (depending on the matchup). These choices will have an impact on a hero's ability to control the map.
Apart from the items listed above, players can find a number of other trinkets throughout the game in the form of awards and trophies. These can be earned through completing certain milestones within the story. For example, completing the main quest for a chapter or defeating a boss. You can view them by selecting the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
